Congrats to Dr. Andrew Duitsman! Andrew is now an Assistant Profesor of Biology at Piedmont University.

Congrats to Theresa Erlenbach, who received the Alton Fellowship for excellence in research from the UGA Department of Genetics. This is a top honor in our department.

Izzy, Adam, and Abby all graduated, and we are excited for them as they move on to new positions. Izzy and Adam will be research technicians with Tania Rozario and Katie Billmyre, respectively, and Abby will pursue a career in marine biology.

Kelly became the Director of the Integrated Life Sciences program, and took off her Genetics Graduate Coordinator hat.

Congrats to Dr. Paul Ginsberg! Paul is heading to the University of Kansas, where he will be a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Center for Genomics. He'll be working with Rob Unckless and Justin Blumenstiel.

We enjoyed having Madeline Sheppard from Eckerd College in our lab this the summer. Madeline participated in the (Summer Undergraduate Fellowships in Genetics (SUNFIG)) program.

Congrats to Theresa Miorin, who was awarded a second year of funding as a trainee on the NIH Genetics Training Grant. Theresa also passed her qualifying exam to become a PhD Candidate.

Congrats to Andrew Duitsman, who received an Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award from the UGA Center for Teaching and Learning. Andrew also passed his qualifying exam to become a PhD Candidate.

We enjoyed having Jerbrea Powell from Tougaloo College in our lab this the summer. Jerbrea participated in the (Summer Undergraduate Fellowships in Genetics (SUNFIG)) program, and she will present her summer research at the ABRCMS conference this fall.

Spring 2020

Congrats to our 2020 graduates!! Maddie, Sandy, Meagan, Emily, Shannon, Sydney, Samantha, and Tommy are all fledging and heading to bigger things. We will miss them!

Congrats to Samantha Kincaid who will be starting her PhD at the University of South Carolina, Zach Sanchez who will be starting his PhD at Vanderbilt, Meagan Crumley who will starting her MS in Genetic Counseling at Brandeis University, and Maddie Snipes who will be starting medical school at the Medical College of Georgia.

Congrats to Theresa Miorin, who received an NIH Training Grant Fellowship for 2020-2021. Theresa also received an R.C. Lewontin Early Award from the Society for the Study of Evolution to support her research on X-chromosome drive.

Maddie Snipes and Tommy Bui did a great job (virtually) presenting their research at the 2020 UGA CURO research symposium.

Kelly was one of nine UGA faculty members inducted into the UGA Teaching Academy this year.
